Satin Finish. Satiny deep red-orange surfaces offer a Gem Lincoln cent of monumental physical and aesthetic quality. Did the Mint experiment with Proof finishes in 1950 when the Proof program restarted after a seven year hiatus? The present Gem Proof is of a Satiny finish, much like the Proof half dollars of the year, and unlike the usually reflective finish associated with the Proof process.
