1820s-1830s Memorial Portrait Pendant

78 mm., including bale. Young man's portrait hand-painted on mother-of-pearl and enclosed in a brass or copper hand-crafted frame, glass cracked but not shattered. Back of frame includes a bit of entwined hair in its own enclosure, perhaps from the person pictured; hair knots were a popular memorial at the time for deceased people. Neat and no doubt unique.
