Description
Philip II (1556-1598). Grade 3. VF or so to our eyes, and not as wretched as many of the shipwreck 8 reales seen today -- in fact, this one is downright nice by comparison. On September 6, 1622, the Nuestra Senora de Atocha was lost at sea in a hurricane off the Florida Keys while carrying a vast treasure of gold and other precious cargo. The treasure was found and marketed by Mel Fisher beginning in the early 1980s. Choice quality and an attractive presentation. Certificate of Authenticity dated September 15, 1986.
