VF Details 1788 Massachusetts Cent Rarity

Ryder 13-I. Rarity-7. PCGS Certified Cleaned -- VF Details. An extreme rarity, one of fewer than a dozen specimens known, and probably in the running for finest known among those select few examples. Deep golden-brown, now retoning from an old cleaning. No marks of measure are seen. A cleaned VF example of Ryder 13-I sold in 2013 for the princely sum of $18,000, and a Fine-12 PCGS specimen brought $5,040 in 2019. The rarity -- and value -- of this die combination cannot be overstressed!
