Fine-12 1846 Dime Rarity

Deep and strictly original golden-gray throughout. An altogether pleasing example of this low-mintage key date in the Liberty Seated dime series. Only 31,300 pieces were struck, less than half that of the 1844 mintage, but far more rare than the highly touted 1844 "Orphan Annie" scarcity; that date tends to overshadow this rarity in the current marketplace for reasons unknown to us. We can't remember the last time we offered this date, but we can vouch it was long ago and not of the present quality. One of the great opportunities in the present sale.
