Pair of 1865 Poll Tax Receipts

Both are San Francisco issues and are dated June 17th 1865. Each shows the $2 tax being paid. One is a Military issue. Both are quite scarce. F or better quality. From the good old days when you had to pay a substantial amount just to vote! It's often quoted that these taxes were initiated to inhibit the vote African Americans, though several northern states also had such a tax.
